Section 3, Range 51, Township 6
Two days ago, three guys arrived with three trucks, a backhoe, and a One Pounder bag of Spitz Dill Pickle Sunflower Seeds. They proceeded to drill me a new water well in a pasture we call 'the tornado site', but legally is referred to as the SE quarter of Section 3, Range 51, Township 6. Terry and his crew worked quickly, and quietly, each knowing what to do and when to do it like a perfectly choreographed dance around a towering, spinning maypole.
They read the geologic veins and stratum by constantly sampling the soil flushed up from the drill bit. With their colander and shovel they read the earth from the inside out. Sand, then gravel, coarse gravel, clay, blue shale, more gravel, then yellow shale - words from a language that only they speak.
Finding water in this area is not guaranteed. This attempt was moderately successful; the well only produces three gallons a minute. But since it is only for watering cattle it should be sufficient with a large enough stock tank.
